The assessment exam or portfolio test is used to decide on the artistic aptitude of the applicants.

The determination of artistic aptitude is made exclusively on the basis of the submitted artistic works by a commission of artistic professors. The commission is newly elected each year by the Senate of Kunstakademie Münster.

There is no further practical entrance examination. No grade point averages are taken into account.

In case of doubt, the commission may invite to an interview after the portfolio review.

The determination of artistic aptitude for the chosen course of study is based on the following criteria:

  • Artistic design ability
  • Realization ability in the chosen artistic media and
  • Artistic conception and intensity

The evaluation of the portfolio is based on an internal university evaluation system. Here, 1 corresponds to the highest, 3 to the lowest evaluation level:

Level 1: outstnding artistic talent

Level 2: artistic aptitude

Level 3: insufficient artistic aptitude

The result of the assessment test is expected to be communicated to you by written notification (E-Mail) in mid-May.

The result cannot be communicated by telephone.
